Okay, total attention-whore moment: MY SECOND BOOK WILL BE HITTING A BOOKSHELF NEAR YOU IN FEBRUARY 2005! DETAILS TO BE POSTED SOON!

I had to shout the news to someone, because the only other person home right now is the dog (who, okay, yes, is not actually a person, but you see where I’m going with this), and he is is shockingly blasé about the whole thing. When I informed him that he was going to be living with a multi-published author, he just blinked. And then stuck his tongue out. I think he’s still mad because I wouldn’t let him chew his filthy, drool-saturated rawhide bone on the bed this morning, but I have to draw the line somewhere. Tough love.

In other news: Downtown Press has just invited me to contribute a short story to one of their fabulous anthologies (see Irish Girls About Town and Scottish Girls About Town). The new collection will be out in December 2004 and the theme, rumor has it, is New Year’s Eve.  So I’ll be breaking out the Champagne and a giant silver disco ball to help establish the mood. I wonder if I can write those off on my taxes...

It’s the story of a child psychologist who discovers that the preschooler she’s treating for depression is the biological son of her new boyfriend, who may or may not be a rebound romance…and who has no idea he has a child. (But it’s a comedy.  I swear!)
