JANUARY 16, 2005: "Help Me Be Good!"

So I recently ordered some cute baby gear for a friend and when the bibs and booties were delivered today, I found an envelope full of promotional coupons in the packaging. I thumbed through the brochures (what? I was procrastinating on starting revisions on my newest manuscript) and found an offer for a series of children’s books from Scholastic: the "Help Me Be Good!" books.

The series aims to help kids develop basic self-regulatory skills and resist the temptation to engage in bratty behavior such as "Disobeying," "Complaining," "Teasing," and, of course, "Being Destructive."

I am absolutely positive I qualify for a scholarship. Just ask my little brother. Or my lab mates from grad school.

My only question: when is the volume on "Not Procrastinating" due to be published?

Okay, on to serious writer stuff. EXES AND OHS will be hitting bookstores nationwide in a scant few weeks. To celebrate its release, I’ll be taking my show on the road with an abbreviated book signing tour this spring. Right now, I know I’ll be signing in Phoenix and Los Angeles in March, Minnesota in early April, and the Chicago area in May (where I’ll be doing a joint signing with Cara Lockwood, fellow Downtown Press author.) See the "appearances" section below for specific locations (exact dates and times will be posted in the next two weeks.)
