March 12, 2006

Whew! Just turned in a brand new book and I’m ready to change out of my grubby sweats and mingle. Right after I flip through my hefty stack of magazines featuring Oscar fashions and gossip. Priorities, people, priorities.

I have lots of news to report, starting with a bunch of new speaking and signing events for spring. If you’re going to be in Phoenix, Los Angeles, or Atlanta in the next few months, please drop by and say hi. Please! I promise not to wear my grubby sweats. Hell, I might even slap on some lipgloss for you.

The new book that I’ve been writing so feverishly is my new favorite. It’s called Nearlyweds and it’ll be out in November 2006. Since I’ve neglected you so shamelessly while I finished the manuscript, it’s only fair that I treat you to a little sneak peek:

Stella, Erin, and Casey have just gotten married and each is having a big problem with her new marriage (think stealth vasectomies, mothers-in-law from hell, and a husband who ends every argument with: “You’re the one who HAD to get married…”) Throw in the stress of trying to survive of their first holiday season as part of a newly merged family (what’s Thanksgiving without a little—okay, a lot of—drama and dysfunction?) and you have three newlyweds riding the ragged edged of sanity. So when they find out that the pastor who presided over their weddings died before signing their marriage certificates, they’re faced with the pivotal question: should I stay or should I go?

Nearlyweds was truly fun to write and I hope it’ll be equally fun to read. I know that November seems like a long way off, so in the meantime, you can get your fix with my brand new series for teens from MTV Books. The series is called “The 310” and I’m writing it under the name Beth Killian. If you liked “Clueless” and/or “90210”, you will love these books. According to the pop culture arbiters at the New York Post, they are “pure, trashy brain candy.” You know you want a piece of that! To find out more about the series and read an excerpt, go to my new website: www.bethkillian.com. I also have a blog there, so you won’t have to wait months between updates.

Oh, and my Fashionably Late contest ends April 1. If you haven’t already entered to win a gift certificate to bluefly.com, hop over to the contest page and get in the running. Good luck!

xoxo,
Beth
