Big news! My new novel,
THE PRE-NUP will be released
on November 25, 2008, and you can
pre-order your copy right now.
I had lots of fun writing this book, and I hope you’ll
agree it’s been worth the wait. If you (like me) hate

I’m going to try to schedule a few booksignings for
the holiday season, so check back in a month or two
for more details.
In other news, my baby is a baby no
longer! We just hosted a first birthday extravaganza,
and in honor of the occasion, I baked a cake. As in,
from scratch. With my own two hands. Everyone always
told me that motherhood changes you at your core, and
it must be true, because heretofore my baking experience
has pretty much been limited to ripping open a box of
brownie mix and tossing in some eggs and oil. But I’m
trying to stay away from processed foods and mysterious
chemical additives, so I unearthed my mixing bowls and
sifter (some of which were wedding gifts and still had
the price tags stuck on the bottom—you see what I mean
about me and baking), went online, and searched for
“best chocolate cupcake recipe.” And it actually worked!
God bless the Internet. Without further ado, I give
you…THE STUPENDOUS, AMAZING, ODDS-DEFYING CATERPILLAR
CAKE:
Yes, I had help with the decorating.
(Thanks, Karin!) But come on, give it up for the cake
that could! Next stop: handmade pasta, lobster etoufée,
cheese soufflés… or maybe just buckwheat pancakes.
Today, cake…tomorrow, the world!
But for now, I’m off to work on the
next book (details coming soon!) and read aloud to a
certain “Very Hungry Caterpillar” junkie.
